At home, cozy winter date night ideas that cost little and deliver big opportunities for reconnecting as a couple.
When it’s windshield-crackin’ cold outside…it’s time to turn on the heat inside.

With some cozy, at-home winter date nights, I mean!
So, get your couple’s PJs on, put the kids to bed, and let’s get the two of you connecting with each other.
Cozy Winter Date Nights At Home
These are some of the best indoor date night ideas I’ve got. The cozy ones my own husband and I have either really enjoyed together, or WILL get to enjoy together this winter.
And I want the same for you + your Boo!
1. Physically Bond with Mini-Couple’s Experiments
There are lots of ways to physically bond with each other (besides you know what!). And they can really connect the two of you more deeply.
So, set up a realllllly cozy space with blankets, candlelight, a fire, etc. Get in your PJs. And pick a few of these couple’s experiments below.
Physically bonding couple’s experiments:
- Heartbeat Awareness Experiment: Set a timer for 2 minutes. Lie together with a hand over each other’s hearts. Match your breathing.
- Mirroring Experiment: Did you know that just mirroring each other can make you feel more connected? Set the timer for two minutes. One person moves slowly (hands, posture, breath).
The other mirrors. Then switch. - Eye Contact Experiment: Sit facing each other. Set a time for 2 minutes. Hold each other’s eye contact for that long.
2. Set Up Space Heater Poker on the Bedroom Floor

Get things heated up with a space heater (so you don’t have to increase the heat in the whole house – make sure to use it safely)…then play a round of poker with your spouse on the bedroom floor (a blanket works nicely for this).
I’ll let you decide if you want to keep clothes on or not when someone loses a hand…
Put something fun on the line.
3. Virtually Tour a Trendy Artist + Have Some Silly Artsy Fun
Ever heard of Banksy?
His street art, which pops up all over the world from time to time, is highly sought after.
There are now virtual Banksy exhibits that you can enjoy from home.

Make a night of it with a glass of vino and your adventure buddy.
Psst: then do something silly-artsy, like this pudding portraits date night idea from Dollar Tree. SO fun! OR, use pudding to recreate your favorite Banksy you saw. See if you each can guess which one it’s supposed to be (haha!).
4. Set Up a DIY Dollar Tree Hot Cocoa Station + Holiday Movie

It turns out that Dollar Tree has everything you could need or want to set up a DIY Dollar Tree hot cocoa station.
Just look at this one I surprised my husband with! Here’s how to set your own up.
And here’s a list of 11 must-see holiday movies for couples.
Pair them together for a cozy evening in this winter.
5. Use a Couple’s Date Night Intimacy Box

Ooohhhh – ready for an intimate evening that neither of you has to plan?
Grab yourself an EveryLove box, get excited when it comes to your doorstep, and surprise your spouse with an evening NEITHER of you will ever forget.
6. Do a Round of Love is Blind Questions

Each of you takes a couch and a snuggly blanket.
Oh yeah…and a blindfold!
Use one of these conversation starter decks specifically for couples, and take turns asking the other person questions. The person answering? Needs to put on their blindfold.
Trust me – it’s a totally different experience answering questions and talking to another person when you can’t see them (like in the pods!).
7. Play Oregon Trail + Eat Each Other’s Fave Kid’s Cereal

You guys…as soon as I found a free Oregon Trail video game online, I knew I had to surprise my husband with a date night around it.
I mean, didn’t we ALL use to love playing that game in upper elementary and middle school?
He was STOKED when he found out what I was up to.
I also paired it with each of our favorite childhood cereals so that we could enjoy a bowl while playing the game.
As for our round? Didn’t go so hot. I mean, it went well for a while…until my husband flooded our wagon crossing a river and both my son and I perished.
#sigh.
Pssst: PJs are practically required for this date night! How cozy.
8. Set the Dining Room Table for Two

Simple. Yes.
But sometimes we a) forget how good simple can be, and b) forget to do the basics.
Like, I can’t remember the last time just my husband and I sat down to a meal together with candles.
Check out these 7 date night dinner recipes for two, and you’ll be all set.
Psst: we play music from our phones throughout the house with this surprisingly awesome speaker. It’s so small…and gives off a great sound!
9. Make & Eat Cast Iron Cookies With No Electronics

Get these mini cast-iron skillets, make your own stovetop cookies, and allow them to cool enough that you can eat out of the skillet (haha!) together.
Two forks!
While snuggling in blankets, of course.
Our favorite? Is snuggling on our ginormous family bean bag chair in blankets. I’m adding these cookies, and absolutely no electronics are allowed on.
Sooooo cozy!
