Edible gemstones are such a unique Christmas treat to gift or a winter treat. You could even give these away as party favors!
How did I come up with almonds that, when dipped in candy melts and edible glitter, look like gemstones?
Well, I tried to make nice, smooth-looking, candy-coated almonds. It turns out that it’s kind of hard to coat almonds in a candy melt/coconut oil mixture and get them to look smooth.
At least for an amateur baker, like myself.
So, I decided to dip them into edible glitter.
Which makes them look like gem rocks!
These make such unique Christmas treat gifts, winter party favors, and candies to eat.
How to Make Edible Gemstones
Ingredients:
- 1 16 oz. bag of Whole Almonds
- 1 12 oz. bag of White candy melts (or whatever color you’d like)
- 1 or 1 1/2 tbsps. of Coconut oil
- 1 tbsp. Edible Glitter
Instructions:
- Melt together a 12 oz. bag of candy melts and coconut oil (about 1-1.5 tbsps. of coconut oil to one cup of candy melts).
- Drop the almonds into the melted mix, and stir to cover thoroughly.
- Use a slatted spatula or spoon to fish the almonds out. Lay them on parchment paper. Let them cool.
- Put about 1 tbsp. of edible glitter into a small plastic bag, and add in 5-7 coated almonds. Shake up, then take them out and put them on a plate. Repeat for all of the coated almonds.
- Eat them, or package them up for gifting.
