Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!
Here is my frugal confession of the week:
It’s been awhile since I have taken advantage of a bank offer. With a bit more time on my hands lately, I decided to take Bank of Texas up on their offer they have mailed out a few times to our house. I signed up for a new checking account that I will most likely be using for a tax savings account for my business. For doing so, I will receive $100. However, since we can’t do direct deposit into the account, in order to receive this $100 I needed to make 10 debit card transactions of at least $10 each. So I funded the account with $120 of our own money, and have had a hoot of a time spending right around $10 in 10 different transactions. So far I’ve replenished our cat food and litter supply, bird feed, purchased 6 bags of compost for our garden as well as various veggie plants and tomato cages (and actually dug up the dirt and planted them all!), and dazzled our backyard with lots of gorgeous flowers. All for practically free! I say practically because the transactions were around $10-$14 (and we will only be rewarded with $100 in the end), and also because I will have to pay taxes on the $100 come April 2014.
What a great way to get our garden started and spruce up our landscaping!
What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it.
