Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!
Well, we had to call a plumber last week. Last year when we called one during an emergency (i.e. water coming through our living room ceiling from the second floor bathroom), it resulted in a small fortune ($1,000) as well as a big hole in our ceiling. So when we sprung a leak on a pipe on the outside of our home, we were both a little scared.
Water was continuously spewing out of the pipe, and we didn’t want to damage our house (costing us even more money). So instead of paying a $189 fee for an emergency, after-hour plumbing appointment, we turned off the water to our home for 24 hours. Paul filled up a few big pots, we got out our old brita pitcher with filter, and we waited until the following afternoon. This sacrifice (which wasn’t that bad anyway) saved us $130. Then we saved an additional $25 after I found a coupon to the company. Our total would have been $459 before coupons and our sacrifice, but instead it was $245. Not bad!
What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!
