Updates: Grocery Article, New Article, New Experiment Idea

Well, I have had an overwhelming response on my recent article, “Cutting Down Your Grocery Bill by Playing the Grocery Game“. If this interests you, I highly recommend you not only read the article, but also all of the wonderful comments posted about it–you will see a multitude of ideas, thoughts, and differing perspectives on the issue of food consumption and saving money.
My mind is wrapping itself around all of these comments, as well as the movie Food Inc., (which I saw for free last night at the Angelika Theater Downtown), and a new experiment is taking shape. I would like to prove or disprove whether or not you can buy healthy, fresh, and minimally-processed foods using coupons and the grocery game to save money. Who knows–perhaps it cannot be done, as some of my frugal confessions’ readers think, or maybe it is entirely possible (as I think because I prefer a diet of healthy, fresh foods as opposed to processed, which my stomach cannot handle). This experiment will be coming in the next few weeks, so check back!
While coming out of the movie last night, I found my first dime on the ground of the parking garage! A dime is hardly anything, but I was beginning to think that people do not throw away or lose change here in Houston like in the rest of the country.
Finally, I have a featured guest post entitled “The Automatic Poorhouse” on the blog My Dollar Plan. Check it out–this woman started saving for retirement in her teen years, and has recently retired…at age 29!!
Check back tomorrow for a new post. Until then, have a great day!
