Hello Michelle!

Thanks for the tip. I did price one of those at $105, which is great (would just need a little bit of sanding around the edges and to be varnished). We were looking for an open format, but this is our backup.

Have a great day!

You should also look at the unfinished kitchen sink bases at Home Depot and Lowe's. I think last time I priced one they were under $100. I prefer the countertop height of the kitchen base cabinets over the short bathroom vanity cabinets as it's easier to work with.

Aurora--Good question because we know what we want--a simple, open frame with slat wood shelf on the bottom--and we are not finding it anywhere so far. That might be our alternative!

BTW, I wonder if it would be very hard to build your own vanity for the sink? (or better yet, ask a fiance to do it ;-) Isn't it just a square box made to fit the sink?

Crystal: Great idea! Oh dear...I have to say I am a fan of stainless steel appliances, but so far we are using the really old ones in our home until they die. Then we'll see if stainless steel is still the fad:). We did have to buy a new refrigerator upon moving in, so we bought stainless steel...but we bought from a scratch and dent store, so it was half of its price, making it less than a new white one as well!

JennV: Hello! Great idea on stocking up on cheaper turkies around Thanksgiving time, and good luck on refinancing! That can make a big difference.

I think I've spent the entire month of January working my frugality to the max. January and February are always tough months because our gas/electric bill goes way up. So far I've cooked the second free turkey we got at Thanksgiving time and packaged it up for a couple dinners and casseroles. We've applied to refinance our mortgage at a lower rate at our local credit union (I'm a huge fan of www.MoveYourMoney.org) and there is no penalty for early payoff. Plus, we skip a mortgage payment for March so we'll recoup some of our costs.
There's been many other frugal events this month, but I'm wasting space...and we all hate waste! ;-)

We saved almost $1000 by choosing white appliances instead of black or stainless steel when we moved into our home. Who knew it mattered so much?

No noteworthy frugality to report. I just wanted to say I'm really glad that is you and Paul playing that renovation game and not me. I had never so much as shopped for a sink before I redid my kitchen and was basically struck silent by the repeated sticker shock I suffered.

I'm so glad you got such a great bargain with my advice!! That is awesome. We love craigslist.

My confession: this week I paired a buy 1, get 1 free coupon with a buy 1, get 1 free sale at walgreens to get 2 packages of disposable bic razors for free! To be honest, its been a long time since I paid for razors. My last 3 packs of razors were from free after rebate deals... I only have one of those razors left, so this deal came just in time!
