Frugal Confessions Friday!!!!

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!
I apologize for my lack of articles this week; can we say holiday hangover? Anyway, I am very excited about a weekend at home working on our laundry room renovation and fleshing out some great thoughts and ideas I’ve had over the past several weeks into articles.
Here’s my Frugal Confession of the week:
Over the holidays we had a surprise 50th anniversary party for my grandparents–it was one of the most precious moments I have been privileged to be apart of in someone else’s life! My sister and I were in charge of decorations and favors. We knew that our grandmother really thought that the Hershey’s bars with printed labels of photos and such were really neat, so we decided to splurge and buy these for her favor. I say ’splurge’ because they typically cost $2.00 a piece!!! With over 120 guests, that was simply not an option.
By shopping around online, I was able to find the labels for $0.70 (this included the gold wrapper; gold=50th wedding anniversary) at Favors Today. Then, my sister bought the Hershey’s chocolate bars in bulk, and assembled them all herself. All in all, we got the final cost down to $1.10 per bar (still high for a favor, but our grandmother loved them!), and saved ourselves $108. Yay!!!
What is your frugal confession of the week? I’d love to hear from you all!

I’m glad your grandmother loved the favors…that was really sweet of you two.
My frugal confession for the week is using a feed store. I was able to get a 50 pound bag of cracked corn to feed the ducks in our subdivision for $8. That definitely beats the $1.60 per visit that I was spending on bread, which I found out isn’t good for the ducks anyway. Yay internet!

Instead of spending $60-$70 on good beer this week I spent $5.15 on a liter of vodka. That’s what the label says it is anyway but I’m convinced it’s rubbing alcohol.
