Frugal Confessions – Frugal Living

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!

Here’s my confession of the week:

Paul attended a beer brewing class several months ago and really got into it. I have decided it would be super cool if he were to brew a batch of beer and then we could have a beer tasting party with friends and family. Ingredients for a batch of beer can cost anywhere from $25 to over $50. For his batch of beer, Paul chose a less complicated recipe for a Lager. The mixture of ingredients will cost him right around $30 for five gallons of homemade brew. Woohoo! That’s a lot of beer to share and a great price for a hobby Paul is passionate about.

Paul also signed up for a “frequent fermenter” card. Once he fills it up with punches for purchasing ingredients he will receive a 10% discount for all supplies for six months.

What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!

Last weekend I went shopping (with coupons in hand) for some much needed work clothes. I was able to save about half off of everything (by combining deals, discounts, and extra rewards from my birthday).
For example, I found a $95 dress at Limited, after my reward coupon for my birthday and 15% off with a student ID I got the dress for $55.
Then at Express I was able to make 2 transactions so I could use all of the coupons I had.
I know I still spent alot of money, b/c I was buying “designer” brands, but I like their clothes they last me a long time (because I buy classic pieces)…and my work wardrobe needed some major overhauling. On the bright side I did follow the 1-in 1-out rule (so I didn’t net any more stuff in my closet).
