Frugal Confessions Friday – Frugal Living

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers! Happy Friday!!

Here is my frugal confession of the week:

Paul and I love going to the movie theater. Despite the fact that the cost has spiked and the food stand feels they are selling some sort of gourmet hot dog (can you believe paying $4.25 for a hot dog??), we have not struck this line from our budget. However, we also normally do not pay full price. In fact, just last month we enjoyed a great date night: a homecooked meal right before heaidng to a free pre-screening of A Good Day to Die Hard. The total cost of the night was just a $3 parking fee and some gas. Check out Suba’s article on how you can score your own free or discounted movie theater tickets.

What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!

I called my (auto) insurance company to let them know I am driving a lot less. My driving is 50% less and my wife drives less too. I am not sure how much I will save, but something is better than nothing.

That is great! I hope they give you a nice discount. Unfortunately my auto insurance company will not give me a discount for working from home, even though I am driving a LOT less now.

Movies are fun. My husband and I watch a lot of movies, and when we were first married we lived in a city that had a cheap theater. We had to wait for a couple of months to watch the newest movies, but we didn’t mind. Now we usually just use Netflix rather than going to the theater. It’s not quite the same experience but watching movies at home definitely has its perks as well.

I recently found a cheap theater here in Houston, but I haven’t gone to it yet. I still remember when going to the movie theater was under $5!
