Frugal Confessions Friday – Frugal Living

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!

Here is my frugal confession of the week:

About a week ago I could no longer stand the cluttered and overall dirty state of our cars. It’s true that I am no longer driving mine around much these days. But I love to clean and organize, and stepping into a clean car to run an errand is priceless.

As a surprise to my husband I spent an hour scrubbing dashboards, consoles, a few stains from the carpets, taking everything out of our cars and trashing/recycling/finding its home, and then vacuuming by hooking up our vacuum cleaner on an outside outlet with an extension cord. The inside of our cars turned out beautifully! I figure I saved us $20 and exercised some couch potato muscles at the same time.

What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!

Awesome! it feels good to thoroughly clean your car… I usually don’t do it at all in the winter. I know it’s been quite a while, and by back seat is starting to fill with clutter and receipts.

Have you ever paid for a professional detailing? I haven’t, but it’s sometimes tempting after owning a car for a long time.

My confession this week is how much I love a great deal – my most recent blog post details the score I got today!

Hi Kudy!

It definitely feels great to drive around in a clean car. When I lived in the North I also would never have cleaned a car in the winter. It’s pretty mild where I am now though.

I had a professional cleaning once in my old beater car about five years ago. I was living in Southern Florida, and my interior had been caught in a rainstorm several times (I just couldn’t get used to the idea that a flood-like rain could creep up within minutes of complete sunshine, so I always left my windows down by accident). It was $25 + tip, but well worth it given the situation.
