Frugal Confessions Friday – Frugal Living

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!

Here is my frugal confession of the week:

We have not turned our heat on yet. Yes, we live in Houston. However, the nights have gotten down to 42 degrees fahrenheit, and my husband is from Houston and he is not as tolerant of the chilliness as his PA-raised wife. Instead of turning on the heat we are wearing long sleeves, sweaters, socks, and snuggling up to the fires Paul has built for us in the evenings. Admittedly, it is chilly to wake up to a 60-degree fahrenheit house! I wonder if we can make it for a few more weeks?

What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!

Just thought I’d share, like you I try to keep the heat off as long as possible. The wife of my youth always thinks we need to turn the heat on just about the time we are really getting used to the cooler temps. As a compromise, we use the little milk house heaters to heat whatever room we are in rather than heat the whole house. Electricity in small quantities is cheaper than propane in these marginal heating periods.

Sounds like a good system and compromise. What part of the country do you live in?

You’re braver than I am! I’ve broken down and turned mine on a couple of times – just long enough to get the chill out of the house and then it gets shut back off. You’re lucky that your hubby is here to snuggle with you – mine’s still working out of town during the week!
