Frugal Confessions Friday – Frugal Living

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers. I hope you all are well. Happy Friday!!!

Here is my confession of the week:

The JCC (Jewish Community Center) right near our home has an awesome used book sale each year. We went to this year’s a few weeks ago and scored a total of 29 books for $39!!! It was incredible. We bought classics we have been meaning to read, new books that someone must have picked up for $15 upon first release and donated after devouring it, and lots of books in between. Needless to say, we are stocked up for about a year (at least!).

What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!

I am trying for 1-2 days per week not using my car. This Tuesday I took the bus ($2.25) to my co-working space. Worked there from 9am to 5pm. Walked to my evening meeting, then walked 1.75 miles home after that. Saved money on gas+parking and walked 2+ miles. My half-marathon training has enabled me to walk in a wider circle for my neighborhood errands.

What an awesome goal you are working towards! With gas prices so high, it’s a win-win all around. Thanks for sharing!

That is amazing! What a great deal! I used to shop at the outdoor section of The Strand (a bookstore in New York) that always has shelves set up of $1 books for half a block. They even have a section of classics that are used (read: awesome old book smell) inside for usually a couple dollars each.

I called to cancel one of my airline credit cards to save the annual fee. The customer service rep offered to $100 credit. I took it and will keep the card for another year. I saved nearly 75%.
