Hello Frugal Confessions Readers! How was your week?
Here is my frugal confession:
Last year I was fortunate enough to live within half an hour of where Swami Mukundananda was having a free (donations accepted), week-long workshop. For three hours each day, Swamiji led a yoga session, a meditation/body relaxation session, and gave a lecture from the Bhagavad Gita. As if that wasn’t enough, each night the workshop ended with a delicious homemade meal of vegetarian Indian food.
He came back again this year, for two weeks! The first week occurred from July 27th through August 2nd and I attended three of the sessions. Here are some tidbits of what I learned:
- Several yoga postures to help with digestion, flexibility, and other areas of the body. I also learned the actual mission of yoga, which is to ready the body for long meditations.
- A way to bust stress: Swamiji said, “If you want to get rid of stress, detach from the results.”
- How to stop being negative: “The sentiment of gratitude knocks out all negatives.”
If you are in Houston, I highly recommend you attend at least one night of his upcoming seminar from August 15th to August 21st, 2013. During the weekdays, sessions do not begin until 6:00 pm. Remember, you don’t need to cook, as you will be fed wonderful food afterwards. I certainly left a donation, but it pales in comparison to what I took away from the experience.
What is your confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!
