Frugal Confessions Friday!

Hello Frugal Confessions Readers!

For those of you new to this series, check out the introduction here.

Here is my confession of the week:

As you know, Paul and I are setting up our library (how exciting!!! We both love to read). Last weekend, I was able to snag this gorgeous rug, which just so happens to match the terra-cotta color walls perfectly, for $50 off of Craigslist. Hurrah!

What is your frugal confession of the week? I’d love to hear it!

I turn the stove off at the breaker and only back on when i want to use it. The built-in micro is on a power strip located in the cabinet above it and when i want to use that i flip the switch. I guess i have this thing about all the clocks on these items burning through the energy. And while on the subject everything else in the house is either on a power strip or just completely unplugged until we are actually using it. (unfortunately can’t do it with the fridge though…lol)

My fiance and I go through quite a bit of olive oil – I stir fry a lot and make fajitas often. It can get really pricey though. I recently discovered olive oil and bread dipping sauces at Marshall’s though for a FRACTION of the price! I never would have thought to look there.

I play with my blog instead of going ut when it’s not necessary…I think I’m shopping 50% less than last year. What a great hobby!

finallygettingtoeven: Hello! I would never have thought to switch off a breaker; we unplug most things when they are out of use. However, we just got a gorgeous microwave for a wedding gift…and haven’t unplugged it yet. Guess we’ll have to add that to the routine!

    Thanks for your comment

Hello Angela! Thanks for your comment and info. Another great place I have found for olive oil is World Market–periodically they have huge containers of extra virgin olive oil on sale for $12 or so–a great savings. I’ll check out Marshall’s as well:).
